customer service has been recognized by four annual Achievement Awards from West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service – a notable 'quad' among local firms.
Founded by Derrick Barker, who is still very much at the helm
of the family business, Grafton Garage offers a wide selection of competitively-priced, quality, pre-owned cars. It also sources specific cars for customers and increasingly attracts buyers from across the UK via its
internet site.
Servicing, repairs, MoT testing and tuning have always played a large part in Grafton Garage's business. It offers a full servicing capability for all makes and models, with particular experience in
Continental vehicles from Germany, France and Italy.
Keeping up with the times is vital, says Derrick Barker, so the company has invested substantially in high-tech diagnosis equipment for servicing engine management,
anti-lock brakes (ABS) and air-bags. It also offers traditional replacement parts, including exhausts, clutches, brakes and steering items.
Further diversification has seen Grafton Garage expand into vinyl sign-making
- using state-of-the-art computerised equipment, including digital photography - for its growing customer base requiring professional signage for commercial vehicles and shop frontage displays.
Derrick Barker is proud
of the garage's 27 year record and close ties with the Keighley area: "Many customers have been coming to us for years, mostly from a 20-25 mile radius. Mums and dads bring their cars to us and then when their sons and
daughters pass their tests they often come to us to buy a car for them. A lot of that is down to looking after our customers well."
